You asked, and we obliged! Our one pound bag of Turmeric and Black Pepper Sprouted Pili Nuts is here. We added a touch of local, organic turmeric and organic black pepper to our classic pili nut recipe, adding a host of new health benefits to our already nutrient-rich nuts. It'll be hard to put these down!

Our Pili Nuts:

All of our pili nuts are hand-harvested in the wild Filipino rain forest, placing minimal strain on natural resources and providing local communities with an incentive to preserve their wild spaces. After harvest, our pili nuts are sprouted (i.e., "activated") through soaking in salt water and dehydration. Activation breaks down phytic acid and enzyme inhibitors within raw pili nuts, which allows the body to access the nut's nutrients much easier. Our pili nuts have a rich, buttery taste; contain numerous essential vitamins and minerals (magnesium, manganese, Vitamin B1, and more!); and the highest fat and lowest carbohydrate content of any nut. This compact nutritional powerhouse is a great take-along snack for long adventures big and small, as well as a healthy staple of any balanced diet.

Our Quality Ingredients:

Both our turmeric and black pepper are sourced from local, organic Filipino farms, near the site where we process all of our raw pili nuts. It would be easier and cheaper to buy our spices from conventional farmers elsewhere, but that wouldn’t stay true to our commitment to the local economy and environment.

Turmeric, a delicious, yellow spice long used in South Asian cuisine and medicine, is known to be a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. It is often used to treat the symptoms of arthritis and other inflammatory conditions. However, the component of turmeric that yields the most health benefits - curcumin - is often difficult for the human body to process. Black pepper contains a high concentration of the compound piperine, which eases the body's absorption of curcumin. Together, black pepper and turmeric provide a powerful combination that turns the pili nut into a powerhouse of essential nutrients .

To maintain freshness, we recommend refrigerating your pili nuts. While some love the crunchy texture of cold pili nuts, we do recommend eating them at room temperature.
