13 bags of our famous Turmeric & Black Pepper Wild Sprouted Pili Nuts for the price of 12!
You asked and we obliged! Our new Turmeric and Black Pepper Wild Sprouted Pili nuts are simply phenomenal. We threw in a touch of local organic turmeric and organic black pepper to our classic recipe to add a host of new health benefits to our already nutrient-rich nuts. Both our turmeric and black pepper are sourced from organic farms in the Philippines, near the site where we process all of our raw pili nuts. It might be easier to buy our spices from conventional farmers in other parts of the world, but that wouldn’t be true to our commitment to the local economy and environment.
Turmeric, a delicious spice long used in South Asian cuisine and medicine, is known to be a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant that has been known to treat the symptoms of arthritis and other inflammatory conditions.
However, the component of turmeric that yields the most health benefits, curcumin, is often difficult for the human body to process. Luckily, black pepper contains a high concentration of the compound piperine, which eases the body's absorption of curcumin. Together, black pepper and turmeric provide a powerful combination that turns the pili nut into a natural super-pill of essential nutrients .
All of our pili nuts are wild harvested by hand from the Filipino rainforest, placing minimal strain on natural resources and providing local communities with an incentive to preserve the health of their wild spaces. After harvest, the nuts are then sprouted and activated through a soak in salt water and dehydration. The activation process breaks down the phytic acid and enzyme inhibitors contained within raw pili nuts, allowing the body to access the nutrients inside much more easily. The result is a super-nut with a rich buttery taste, containing a huge range of essential vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, manganese, and Vitamin B1, and the highest fat and lowest carbohydrate content of any nut. This compact nutrition and delicious flavor makes the pili nut a great take-along snack for long adventures as well as healthy staple in any balanced diet.
FYI! You may notice the discrepancy in our serving sizes for our 1.85oz bags of Pili nuts. FDA regulations forced us to label our package as a single serving at 30g, where the total bag weight is 52g. You can calculate the correct nutrition facts by multiplying the numbers by 1.73. For example, each bag is actually 364 calories. We apologize for the confusion and will have the issue resolved before the end of the year.
To ensure freshness we recommend storing your Pili nuts in the refrigerator. While some love the crunchy texture of cold Pili's we recommend eating them at room temperature.
